Ottoman empire velvet embroidery, richly embroidered with Islamic calligraphy and lined with cotton. It has tapered ends decorated with tassels.
The embroidery is sura al-Haj verse 26 from the Quran. ‘And when We determined for Abraham the location of the House, not to associate anything with Me, and purified my House for those who go around and those who stand and bow and prostrate.’
It is from the 19th century and the dimensions are 210 by 25 cm. It is in very good condition.
