Islamic decorated tray

This tray is from the 11th to the 12th century AH (17th to 18th century AD). A circular tray, crafted from brass with a flat base, intricately chiseled sides, and enchanting engraving on its interior. At the center of the tray, there is a captivating cartouche with the image of a running hare, facing rightward and set against a mesmerizing Arabesque background. This central design is framed by a decorative band adorned with trefoil finials and further encircled by another band, this one featuring a series of elegant hares in motion.

Such brass trays were highly coveted in Islamic societies, both for their practical use and their symbolic value. As functional objects, they were often used to serve food or drink or to display precious objects in grand settings. But they also held deeper significance, representing the wealth, power, and sophistication of their owners, and embodying the beauty and complexity of Islamic culture and art.

Dimensions: 3 by 47 cm and it weighs 1,81 kg. Though obviously used, it is in good condition.

Product Code: 15615
