A 19th century gilded bronze Quran stand from Persia, India

This uniquely formed Quran stand consists of two interlocking parts. The whole piece is gilded and inscribed with calligraphic texts from the Quran in Naskh script. It is also adorned with floral and foliage motifs. 

The inscriptions are:

  • The upper part: surah al-Al-Waqi'a v.90-v.96
  • The lower part: surah al-Kawthar and v.1-v.2 from surah Al-Qalam.

 

The piece is in very good condtion with a height od 18 cm and a width of 36 cm.
